Actor in "Mr. Wizard" from 1951-1964, who inspired and taught children about science. On the show he encouraged kids to try experiments at home, showing them the steps in his own simple workshop. He received the Peabody Award for the show in 1954. Herbert majored in drama in college, but joined the Army Air Corps during World War II before starting "Mr. Wizard" in 1951.
