 The Question:
On average, how many children die of malnutrition, poor living
conditions, starvation, medical incapabilities, wars, and similar
causes in Third World countries every hour?
The Answer:
According to a 1995 Unicef study, researchers
from Cornell University (using data from 53 developing countries)
concluded that over half of the 13 million deaths of children under
five years old worldwide each year were associated with
malnutrition.
The Unicef site is a terrific source for world malnutrition
statistics, and the above figure is just the tip of the iceberg. The
organization's publications,
especially the Progress for Children report, are
a great place to start your research.
