The Question:

Where and when did the term "CARE PACKAGE" originate?

Do the letters in the word CARE stand for a particular descriptive phrase?

The Answer:

In 1945, 22 American organizations joined together to rush parcels of food to Europe in the aftermath of World War II. CARE originally stood for Cooperative for American Remittances to Europe.

Today, CARE and CARE Package are registered marks of the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, Inc. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, CARE USA is one of 10 member countries of CARE International, which has a main office in Brussels, Belgium.
